Ingredients
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment or lightly grease.
2. In a bowl, mash bananas until smooth.
3. In a large bowl, beat melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream and vanilla.
5. Stir in mashed bananas.
6. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
7. Gradually add dry mix to wet batter, stir until just combined.
8. Pour batter into pan, smooth top, and bake 28–32 minutes.
9. Cool completely in pan before frosting.
10. For frosting: In a saucepan, brown the butter until golden and nutty (5–7 min).
11. Remove from heat, whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon milk. Add more milk if needed for spreading consistency.
12. Spread frosting over cooled brownies. Let it set before slicing.
Notes
Don’t overmix the batter—stir just until dry ingredients disappear for a tender crumb.
Let the brown butter cool slightly before adding sugar to avoid curdling.
