This Cheesy Baked Tortellini with Meat Sauce is a comforting, oven-baked casserole full of flavor and creamy, cheesy satisfaction. Loaded with cheese-stuffed tortellini and a rich meat sauce, it’s finished with gooey mozzarella and Parmesan. A perfect dish for cozy nights or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
24 oz marinara sauce
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Salt and black pepper, to taste
20 oz cheese tortellini (refrigerated or frozen)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef and onion until meat is fully cooked and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in marinara sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5–10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook tortellini in salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in the dish. Add tortellini, pour remaining sauce on top, and mix to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
