Description
This easy, one-pan Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo is a flavorful weeknight dinner that comes together in under 30 minutes. Creamy orzo, smoky sausage, and crisp broccoli make this a comforting and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
12 oz chicken sausage
1 cup orzo pasta
2 cups broccoli florets
1/2 red onion
2 cloves garlic
2 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Slice chicken sausage and brown in olive oil over medium heat until golden on both sides. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same skillet, add diced red onion and sauté for 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds.
3. Stir in orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
4. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Add broccoli florets and cooked sausage. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes.
6. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley or Parmesan if desired.
Notes
Use pre-cooked smoked chicken sausage for quick prep.
Add a splash of lemon juice before serving for brightness.
Stir in a bit of Parmesan or dairy-free alternative for added creaminess.
