Description
This Chilli Garlic Prawn Pasta is a spicy, garlicky, and buttery pasta dish featuring juicy prawns tossed in chili-infused olive oil, finished with lemon juice and fresh parsley. It’s quick enough for a weeknight but bold and elegant enough to impress.
Ingredients
250g pasta (linguine or spaghetti)
300g large prawns, peeled and deveined
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or minced
1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Peel and devein prawns, pat them dry. Slice garlic, chop parsley, and halve tomatoes if using. Measure all ingredients.
2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until just golden and fragrant. Stir in chili flakes.
4. Add prawns to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes per side. Add tomatoes during the last minute, if using.
5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Stir in butter and a splash of reserved pasta water. Toss everything together until glossy.
6. Finish with lemon juice and parsley. Toss again. Serve hot, with extra parsley or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
Notes
Don’t overcook the prawns—they cook fast and should be just pink and curled.
Reserve pasta water before draining—it helps loosen and emulsify the sauce.
Add lemon juice off the heat to maintain its bright, fresh flavor.
