These Chocolate Chip Banana Bars are the perfect blend of moist banana bread and chewy chocolate chip cookie bars. Packed with ripe banana flavor and studded with melty chocolate chips, they make a cozy treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
3 overripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar. Stir in mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a handful for topping.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips over.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool in pan for 20 minutes, then slice and serve.
