Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons olive oil

12 oz fettuccine pasta

1 teaspoon salt for pasta water

4 tablespoons butter

4 cloves garlic minced

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup Parmesan cheese grated

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup mushrooms sliced optional

2 tablespoons parsley chopped optional

Instructions

1. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook the chicken until golden and fully cooked. Remove, rest, and slice.

2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine until al dente. Reserve half cup pasta water, then drain.

3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat and saute the garlic until fragrant.

4. Pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

5. Add the Parmesan cheese and stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.

6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Use reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

7. Top with sliced chicken, garnish with parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best texture and flavor.

Keep the heat low after adding cheese to prevent the sauce from separating.

Add pasta water slowly to control the sauce consistency and keep it silky.
