This Crispy Cheddar Chicken is a crunchy, cheesy comfort classic that bakes up golden and juicy with a buttery cracker coating. Served with a creamy sauce or as-is, it’s a crowd-pleaser for any dinner table.
Ingredients
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced in half lengthwise)
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups crushed Ritz crackers (about 1 sleeve)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Optional sauce:
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour + garlic powder + paprika, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with shredded cheese and crushed crackers.
- Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg-milk mix, and finally coat in the cheddar-cracker mixture, pressing to adhere.
- Place coated chicken on the baking sheet. Drizzle melted butter over each piece.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until chicken is golden and reaches 165°F internal temperature.
- (Optional) In a saucepan, heat cream of chicken soup and sour cream together until warm and smooth. Drizzle over chicken before serving.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
