Description
This rich, cozy caramel apple jam brings all the best flavors of fall into one simple, spreadable jar. Sweet, spiced, and buttery, it’s perfect on toast, over pancakes, or straight off the spoon. With no pectin needed and pantry staples only, it’s a great small-batch recipe to make for yourself—or to gift.
Ingredients
6 cups finely chopped apples
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Peel, core, and finely chop the apples into small pieces.
2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until bubbly and thickened slightly.
3. Add the apples, cinnamon, lemon juice, and salt. Stir well and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture thickens and the apples are soft.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Let cool slightly, then transfer the jam into clean jars.
6. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or process in a water bath canner for longer shelf life.
Notes
Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor balance and texture.
Stir frequently while cooking to prevent sticking or burning at the bottom.
For gifting, process the jars in a water bath and dress them up with tags or ribbon.
