Description
Golden, buttery puff pastry braided around a sweet almond filling, topped with crunchy sliced almonds and powdered sugar. A stunning yet easy pastry that’s perfect for brunch, dessert, or with coffee.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry
150 g almond paste
1 egg
30 g sliced almonds
2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Break almond paste into pieces and knead until pliable. Roll into a log.
2. Lay thawed puff pastry on parchment-lined tray. Place almond paste log in center.
3. Cut slits on long sides of pastry, angled for braiding. Fold strips over filling, alternating sides.
4. Beat egg and brush over pastry. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
5. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden.
6. Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
Keep the puff pastry cold for best flakiness.
Don’t overfill with almond paste to avoid leaking.
Use parchment paper for easy cleanup.
