Golden, flaky, and rich with creamy egg and melty cheese, these Handheld Egg and Cheese Treats are perfect for a cozy morning or on-the-go breakfast. They bake up beautifully in under 20 minutes and bring restaurant-worthy flavor straight from your oven.

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 large eggs (3 scrambled, 1 yolk kept whole)

⅑ cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon milk or cream

1 tablespoon butter

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Chopped parsley or chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the puff pastry into 4 equal squares and chill while prepping the filling.
  3. In a pan, melt butter and scramble 3 eggs with milk or cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place a spoonful of scrambled egg onto the center of each puff pastry square. Add cheese.
  5. Carefully place one raw egg yolk on top of the cheese if using.
  6. Fold pastry over to form a sealed pocket or place another square on top. Crimp edges with a fork.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
