Description

A golden, cheesy loaf flecked with fresh herbs, this Herb & Cheese Quick Bread is the perfect sidekick to soups, salads, or breakfast plates. With no yeast or kneading required, it’s a fast favorite for any day of the week.


Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or dill)

1 cup milk

2 large eggs

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Stir in cheese and herbs until coated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry; stir gently until just combined.
  6. Transfer batter to pan; smooth the top.
  7. Bake 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove to wire rack to cool fully.
