Description

These Homemade Garlic Knots are fluffy, buttery, and packed with flavor from real garlic and fresh herbs. Whether served as a side or enjoyed on their own, they’re a cozy, bakery-style treat made right at home.


Ingredients

1 cup warm water

2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Sea salt flakes, for topping


Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

2. Add olive oil, flour, and salt. Stir to form a dough, then knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth.

3. Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.

4. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each into an 8-inch rope and tie into knots.

5. Place knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 20-30 minutes.

6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.

7. Meanwhile, melt butter in a saucepan, add garlic, and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Stir in parsley.

8. Brush baked knots with garlic butter and sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Serve warm.

Notes

Make sure the water is warm (not hot) to properly activate the yeast without killing it.

Letting the knots rise twice results in a softer, puffier texture.

For extra richness, brush with more garlic butter just before serving.
