Description
Fluffy, sweet rolls swirled with orange zest and topped with a bright citrus glaze—these Homemade Glazed Orange Rolls are perfect for a cozy brunch or a fresh dessert. Made with soft yeast dough and a zesty orange butter filling, they’re a burst of sunshine in every bite.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons orange zest
½ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
Instructions
1. Warm milk to 110°F and stir in yeast with a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix in eggs, melted butter, sugar, and salt. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
3. Knead dough by hand or mixer for 8 minutes until elastic. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled, 1 to 1.5 hours.
4. Combine softened butter, sugar, and orange zest to make filling.
5. Roll out dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, then roll into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
6. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again 30–45 minutes.
7. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden. Cover with foil if browning too fast.
8. Mix powdered sugar with orange juice for glaze.
9. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh orange zest and juice for the brightest, freshest flavor.
For make-ahead ease, prepare the rolls and refrigerate overnight before the second rise.
Add chopped pecans or golden raisins inside the filling for a texture boost.
