This Hot Honey Chicken Mac N Cheese combines crispy fried chicken tenders coated in sticky, sweet-and-spicy hot honey sauce with a bed of ultra-creamy cheddar macaroni. It’s a bold and comforting main dish that’s perfect for cozy dinners or weekend indulgence.
Ingredients
2 cups elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Salt and black pepper to taste
4–6 seasoned fried chicken tenders (homemade or store-bought)
1/3 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoons hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Simmer 5-6 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in shredded cheddar until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add macaroni back into the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
- In a small saucepan, heat honey, hot sauce, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne until warm.
- Cook or reheat chicken tenders until crispy. Slice if desired.
- Plate the mac and cheese, top with chicken, and drizzle with hot honey sauce.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if using.
