Description

All the flavors of a cheeseburger packed into a warm, bubbly casserole topped with crispy tater tots and gooey cheddar cheese. A family-friendly comfort dish perfect for any weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, diced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

¼ cup chopped pickles (optional)

1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked through.

3. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.

5. Transfer beef mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

6. Sprinkle 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.

7. Top with frozen tater tots in a single, even layer.

8. Bake for 35–40 minutes until tater tots are golden and cheese is bubbling.

9. Sprinkle remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top during last 5 minutes of baking if desired.

10. Garnish with chopped parsley and optional pickles before serving.

Notes

Don’t thaw the tater tots beforehand—they crisp better from frozen.

Want more cheeseburger flavor? Add chopped pickles or cooked bacon to the beef layer.

Use parchment under the baking dish if you’re worried about bubbling over.
