Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
Additional granulated sugar for rolling
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting after baking
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
- Scoop dough, roll into balls, and coat with sugar.
- Place on baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes.
- Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then transfer to wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
