Ingredients

For the Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup hot water (or hot brewed coffee)

For the Chocolate Buttercream:

1 ½ cups unsalted butter, room temperature

4 ½ cups powdered sugar

¾ cup cocoa powder

¼ cup heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For the Ganache Drip:

¾ cup heavy cream

6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

For the Topping:

Assorted Nestlé chocolate bars, chopped

Chocolate curls or mini chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Beat eggs, then mix with buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Blend and pour: Add wet to dry mixture. Slowly add hot water or coffee. Mix until smooth. Divide into pans.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. Make buttercream: Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar and cocoa gradually. Mix in cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat until smooth.
  7. Assemble: Level cakes. Layer with buttercream. Apply a crumb coat and chill. Finish with a smooth buttercream layer.
  8. Make ganache: Heat cream and pour over chopped chocolate. Let sit, then stir until smooth. Cool slightly.
  9. Add ganache drip: Spoon or pipe along cake edges, then fill the top.
  10. Decorate: Top with chopped Nestlé bars and chocolate curls. Chill to set, then bring to room temperature before serving.
