Open Face Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes

  • Author: Jam Scott

Description

These Open Face Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes are everything you love about a classic sloppy joe—savory, rich, comforting—piled high on buttery garlic toast and smothered with melty mozzarella. It’s the perfect easy dinner when you’re craving something hearty and fast.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp tomato paste

1/3 cup ketchup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp brown sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

4 slices garlic Texas toast (frozen or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven and bake garlic toast according to package instructions until golden and crispy. Set aside.

2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.

3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes until onions are soft and translucent.

4. Stir in tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer mixture for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

5. Spoon the beef mixture generously over each slice of garlic toast.

6. Top each with shredded mozzarella cheese. Place under the broiler or back in the oven for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

Toast the garlic bread until fully crisp to prevent sogginess under the meat mixture.

The meat mixture can be made ahead and stored up to 4 days—just reheat and assemble fresh.

Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
