Description
These oven fried feta rolls are a crispy, golden delight filled with warm, creamy feta and finished with a sweet-spicy chili honey drizzle. Perfect as an appetizer or a savory snack, they offer gourmet flavor without the need to deep fry. Simple ingredients and a stunning payoff!
Ingredients
2 sheets phyllo dough per roll
1 small block feta cheese per roll
1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter per 2 sheets
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Gently unroll thawed phyllo dough and cover with a slightly damp towel.
3. Take one sheet of phyllo and brush with olive oil or butter. Layer a second sheet on top and brush again.
4. Cut the stacked sheets into thirds lengthwise.
5. Place a small block of feta at the end of each strip. Roll tightly, folding in the sides to seal.
6. Set rolls seam-side down on the baking sheet. Brush tops with oil or butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until crisp and golden.
8. While baking, heat honey and chili flakes in a saucepan over low heat for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
9. Drizzle chili honey over hot rolls. Garnish with mint if desired.
10. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
Notes
Keep phyllo dough covered while working to prevent it from drying out.
Use block feta (not crumbled) to avoid leakage and maintain creaminess.
For extra crunch, toast the sesame seeds before sprinkling.
