Description

These Perfect Sugar Cookies are soft, buttery, and hold their shape beautifully when baked. Topped with a smooth vanilla glaze and fun sprinkles, they’re the ultimate crowd-pleasing cookie for any holiday or celebration.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

2 to 3 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

sprinkles, optional


Instructions

1. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

2. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until fully combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

5. Divide dough into two discs, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.

6. Roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into shapes and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.

7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.

8. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.

9. Decorate cooled cookies with glaze and sprinkles. Let icing set before storing.
