Description

Ruth’s Chris Ahi Tuna is a luxurious appetizer featuring sushi-grade tuna, a crunchy sesame crust, and a sweet soy glaze. It’s easy to make at home and perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.

Ingredients

2 Ahi tuna steaks

4 tablespoons black and white sesame seeds

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 teaspoon honey or sugar

2 tablespoons wasabi cream or mustard sauce

1 small handful microgreens or sprouts

1 tablespoon cooking oil (canola or grapeseed)

salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Pat tuna steaks dry and season with salt and pepper.

2. Coat all sides of tuna with sesame seeds.

3. Simmer soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey/sugar for 2-3 min; let cool.

4. Heat oil in pan over medium-high; sear tuna 30-45 sec per side.

5. Let rest, slice against the grain.

6. Plate over soy glaze, top with wasabi cream and microgreens.

Notes

Use only sushi-grade tuna for safety and best flavor.

Sear in a very hot pan for a golden crust without overcooking.

Serve immediately to keep the perfect rare center.
