Description
This Shrimp and Steak Fried Rice is a flavor-packed one-skillet dinner with juicy shrimp, tender steak, scrambled eggs, and aromatic garlic tossed into perfectly crisped rice. It’s quick, satisfying, and better than takeout!
Ingredients
1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, sliced into strips
3 cups day-old cooked jasmine or long-grain white rice
2 large eggs
3 green onions, chopped (separate white and green parts)
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: sesame seeds and chili oil for garnish
Instructions
- Sear the Steak: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add steak strips in a single layer and sear 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add another 1/2 tbsp oil. Cook shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
- Scramble the Eggs: Lower heat slightly, add a splash of oil if needed, and scramble the eggs until just set. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add remaining oil if necessary. Sauté minced garlic and white parts of green onions for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Fry the Rice: Add cold rice, breaking up any clumps. Let it sit for 1–2 minutes without stirring to crisp up, then stir-fry another 3–4 minutes.
- Combine and Season: Return steak, shrimp, and eggs to the pan. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until heated through.
- Garnish: Top with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
