Description
This sugar free banana bread is soft, naturally sweet, and made with wholesome ingredients like ripe bananas, almond flour, and applesauce. Perfect for breakfast, snacking, or a healthier dessert option—no refined sugar required.
Ingredients
3 very ripe bananas
2 large eggs
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups almond flour or whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1/3 cup chopped walnuts or sugar-free chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth, leaving some chunks if preferred.
3. Add the eggs, applesauce (or yogurt), and vanilla extract to the bananas. Mix well.
4. Stir in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until just combined.
5. Fold in optional walnuts or sugar-free chocolate chips.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Slice and serve once fully cooled.
Notes
Use bananas with plenty of brown spots for optimal sweetness and texture.
Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the loaf light and fluffy.
For muffins, reduce baking time to 18–22 minutes and use a muffin tin.
