Description

You get everything you love about a chili dog—meaty chili, juicy hot dogs, golden tater tots, and gooey cheese—in one easy casserole. It’s a quick dinner idea that’s as fun as it is filling. Ingredients

1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (15 oz) can chili beans

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

Salt and pepper to taste

6 beef hot dogs, sliced into rounds

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sour cream (optional, for serving)


Instructions

1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion until cooked through.

2. Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes more.

3. Transfer mixture to crockpot. Stir in chili beans and tomato sauce.

4. Add sliced hot dogs and stir to combine. Cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.

5. Layer frozen tater tots evenly on top. Cover and cook on HIGH for another hour.

6. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. Cover for 10-15 minutes until melted.

7. Garnish with green onions and optional sour cream before serving.

Notes

For crispier tater tots, toast them in the oven for 10 minutes before layering them on top.

Want extra kick? Add a pinch of cayenne or diced jalapeños to the chili.

Swap the cheddar with pepper jack for a bolder flavor combo.
