Description

Wake up to the ultimate cozy breakfast with this Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole, an easy recipe that turns refrigerated cinnamon rolls into a soft, rich, cinnamon-swirled breakfast bake. Perfect for a quick breakfast, holiday brunch, breakfast ideas for guests, or sweet food ideas for weekends, this casserole is warm, gooey, comforting, and incredibly simple to make.

Ingredients

2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon butter for greasing the dish

Maple syrup for serving, optional

Fresh berries for serving, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Open the cinnamon roll cans and set the icing aside for later.

3. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and spread the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.

4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces.

6. Gently press the pieces down so they soak up the custard, then let the dish rest for 10 to 15 minutes.

7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until puffed, golden brown, and mostly set in the center.

8. Warm the reserved icing slightly and drizzle it over the casserole while still warm.

9. Serve with maple syrup or fresh berries if desired.

Notes

Letting the casserole rest before baking helps the cinnamon roll pieces absorb more custard for a softer texture.

For an overnight version, assemble the casserole, cover, and refrigerate it, then bake the next morning.

If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
