Description

Dirty Rice with Ground Beef is a beloved Southern classic that turns simple ingredients into a deeply savory, one-pan meal. Packed with aromatics, ground beef, Cajun spices, and tender rice, it’s hearty, satisfying, and perfect for busy weeknights or feeding a hungry crowd.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 cup long-grain white rice

1 red or green bell pepper, diced

1 small onion, diced

2 ribs celery, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tsp Cajun seasoning (or to taste)

2 cups beef broth

Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
  3. Stir in Cajun seasoning. Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add uncooked rice. Stir to combine and ensure rice is submerged.
  5. Cover and simmer over low heat for 18-20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Let sit off heat for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and top with chopped parsley if desired.
