Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon powdered sugar or granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Lightly flour your surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet until smooth.
3. Brush melted butter evenly over the pastry.
4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over the buttered pastry.
5. Add a few drops of vanilla extract if using.
6. Fold the pastry in half lengthwise and press lightly to seal.
7. Cut into 1-inch wide strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
8. Twist each strip several times and place on the baking sheet.
9. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
10. Let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed to prevent cracking while twisting.
For crispier edges, don’t overcrowd the baking sheet.
Add nuts, raisins, or a cream cheese glaze for an elevated finish.
