Description

This Steak in the Oven recipe delivers restaurant-worthy flavor without the grill. A perfect golden crust and tender, juicy center make it ideal for cozy nights or date-night dinners. With a cast iron skillet and a few ingredients, you’ll have a steakhouse experience right at home.


Ingredients

2 ribeye or New York strip steaks (1 to 1.5 inches thick)

Salt, to taste

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil or 1 tablespoon butter

2 garlic cloves, crushed

2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary

Optional: 2 tablespoons compound butter, for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat steaks dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil or butter in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear steaks for 2 minutes per side.
  5. Add garlic and herbs to the pan.
  6. Transfer skillet to oven and roast for 5-7 minutes (medium-rare), or until preferred doneness.
  7. Remove steaks from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Top with compound butter if desired and serve immediately.
