Ingredients

For the Beef Skewers
  • 1 lb beef sirloin cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Wooden skewers
For the Fries
  • 1 bag frozen French fries or homemade fries
  • Salt to taste
For the Salad
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 red onion sliced

Method

Instructions
  1. Whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, and salt in a small bowl until combined and aromatic. Make sure the garlic is finely minced so it distributes evenly and won't burn.
  2. Add the cubed beef sirloin to the marinade and toss until every piece is coated. Let sit for at least 10 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 15 minutes. Thread the marinated beef cubes onto the skewers, leaving small spaces between each cube. Aim for 5-6 pieces per skewer.
  4. Prepare the fries according to package directions. Time this so the fries finish around the same time as the skewers. Toss with salt while still warm.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat, about 400 degrees. Place skewers on grates and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes on the first side. Turn and cook another 3-4 minutes on the second side for medium doneness. Add extra time if you prefer more well-done meat.
  6. While skewers are cooking, arrange fresh lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and red onion slices on a plate or bowl.
  7. Arrange the grilled beef skewers, golden fries, and fresh salad on a plate. Guests can enjoy the skewers as is or pull the meat off and combine with salad and fries.

Notes

Wooden skewers must soak for at least 15 minutes to prevent burning. For even cooking, try to cube the beef into similarly sized pieces. You can use an indoor grill pan, outdoor grill, or even broil in the oven if you don't have outdoor grilling space.
