Ingredients

For the Sticky Beef
  • 1 lb beef chunks cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
For the Crispy Fries
  • 4 potatoes cut into fries
  • Oil for frying
For the Creamy Coleslaw
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
For Garnish
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
  • 1 lime halved

Method

Instructions
  1. Season the beef chunks generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add seasoned beef in a single layer and sear for about 2 minutes per side to develop a brown crust.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced onion to the skillet, stirring for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in barbecue sauce, soy sauce, and honey, stirring to coat the beef evenly. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes to allow the glaze to thicken and caramelize while the onions soften.
  3. Cut potatoes into quarter-inch thick fries and soak in cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F and fry potato batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt immediately.
  4. Combine shredded cabbage and carrot in a bowl. Mix in mayonnaise and lemon juice until well coated. Let sit for a few minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Arrange sticky beef bites in the center of a plate, piling fries on one side and coleslaw on the other. Garnish beef with fresh parsley and place a lime wedge on the plate for brightness.

Notes

For extra crispiness on fries, double-fry them by doing a quick initial fry at 325°F and then a final fry at 375°F. The beef can be made ahead and reheated gently for easy meal prep. Make the coleslaw fresh for the best texture, though it can be prepared a few hours ahead and chilled.
