Description

This Sloppy Joe Casserole is the perfect fusion of nostalgic comfort and easy weeknight convenience. Loaded with tender egg noodles, savory meat sauce, and topped with gooey melted cheese, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Whether you’re feeding kids, meal prepping, or craving a casserole that tastes like home, this one delivers.

Ingredients

12 oz egg noodles, cooked al dente

1 lb ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess grease.

3. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.

4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, toss the cooked noodles with the meat sauce until evenly coated.

5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with shredded cheese.

6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil the top for 2–3 minutes if desired.

7. Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if using, and serve hot.

Notes

Slightly undercook your noodles to avoid mushiness after baking.

You can prepare this casserole up to a day in advance and bake it when ready.

For extra veggies, add diced bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat sauce.
